Maintenance Technician

Full-Time Position

Alabama Safari Park is looking for a well-rounded maintenance technician. Basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, power tools, and vehicle maintenance knowledge is required. Lawn care, landscaping experience, heavy equipment, tractor, and diesel knowledge are a plus. Must be able to lift heavy objects. Must be able to work in all weather conditions. This job is physically demanding, at the same time rewarding, and a fun work environment.

Animal Care/Hoof Stock Staff

Full Time Position

Alabama Safari Park is looking for energetic and hardworking individuals passionate about animal care. We currently have 7 unique hoofstock positions caring for various animals (45 different species) and our farm/commissary. Must be able to lift 50lbs comfortably and be able to work in all weather conditions. Applicants must possess a strong work ethic, a willingness to learn, and excellent communication skills. The ability to follow a strict dress code and maintain a valid driver's license is required. This job is physically demanding, at the same time incredibly rewarding, and a fun work environment.

Responsibilities Qualifications
  • Daily Cleaning and maintenance of exhibits
  • Diet preparation and feeding
  • Assist in vet and medical procedures
  • Daily observation of animals noting general health, possible injury, and breeding
  • Create and administer proper enrichment to various animal species
  • Assist with capture, moving, and handling of large hoofstock according to set policies and procedures
  • Use of large machinery, power tools, and lawn equipment in a safe manner
  • Must be able to communicate and give keeper talks to guests through formal and informal encounters
  • Bachelor's Degree in an animal-relevant field is strongly desired
  • Previous experience with exotic animals: caring for, feeding, and exhibit maintenance/cleaning is beneficial
  • Experience with large domestic hoof stock such as cattle, horses, sheep, etc.
  • Experience with large machinery is a plus
